A Life Interrupted

"Ms Pat's" obituary page reads as follows:

Patricia Yelverton Lennard, age 69, passed away on Tuesday, March 2, 2010 following a brief illness. Beloved mother of Shana Lennard. Sister of Corinne Y. Watts and Jasper M. Yelverton, Jr. of Brandon, MS. She is also survived by nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jasper M. Yelverton, Sr. and Ruth H. Yelverton, and a brother, Orell Yelverton. Born on December 1, 1940 in Burns, MS, she was a resident of New Orleans for 52 years. She retired from South Central Bell as an Assistant Manager in the mid-1990s. As a member of the Telephone Pioneers, Ms. Pat touched countless lives, volunteering for projects at schools, the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, the MS Tour for Cure, the Senior Olympics, making teddy bears to comfort children having surgery and for State Troopers to give to children involved in accidents, helping people solve problems called in to the Action Line at WWL-TV, as well as projects for many other charitable organizations. She also volunteered at the Aquarium of the Americas. An avid Saints fan and longtime season ticket holder, she loved her Bless You Boys. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the ICU staff at East Jefferson General Hospital for their compassionate care. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Friday, March 5, 2010 at 6:30 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, 3987 Canal Street, New Orleans. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to St. John Lutheran Church.
