WHAT GREATER NEW ORLEANS SENIOR OLYMPICS IS ABOUT:
GNOSO is about "over-fifty" individuals enjoying a HEALTHY LIFESTYLE and having FUN than anything else! You don't have to be a Super-Jock to participate in GNOSO Events. Oh, we have the super-athletic events, but GNOSO serves ALL SENIORS - NOT JUST ATHLETES. We have an event to fit your life-style. Regardless of whether you are a Vince Breaux, who can Bench Press 450 pounds (as a 64-year-old) to our 90+ year-old participants who do Washer Pitch or play Bridge, we have something for you. The goal of GNOSO is to get Seniors off the couch, out of the doctors offices, and into a Healthy Lifestyle, whether for the exercise, or for the Social values of being around other Seniors.
Many THANKS to the HARAHAN CITY COUNCIL, and to MAYOR PAUL JOHNSTON in PARTICULAR for making Harahan Gym available for the Banquet as an eleventh-hour change of location. And this was the Best Banquet Ever for GNOSO!

WHO WE ARE:
We are the Greater New Orleans Senior Olympics District of the Louisiana
Senior Olympics We are one of the ten Districts within the State, bringing
the Olympiad to Orleans, Jefferson, St. Bernard, Plaquemines Parishes, and
the immediate areas of the River Parishes. Except for the Program Director,
we are an all-volunteer staff dedicated to presenting the best that Southeast
has to offer in Senior Olympics. Life BEGINS at 50!
WHAT WE STAND FOR:
We are dedicated to Wellness, Fellowship, Continuity of independent
lifestyle, and preserving the Competitive Spirit among citizens of all
ages, particularly those over 50. Our Athletes come from all walks of
life, and offer encouragement to fellow seniors. They know no other
way but to continue to compete. Winning isn't everything, but you
cannot win if you do not compete. Join us and experience your own
"championship season."
Our Mission:
GNOSO's Mission is to provide seniors over the age of 50, quality venues
to participate in a variety of athletic, recreational and social activities, all
of which promote wellness and an active lifestyle.
